Peter Marsh – New-Build Warehouse & Factory, Bootle, 2016

Melling was appointed by Black Cat Building Consultancy to undertake the demolition of an existing factory and deliver a new purpose-built warehouse and factory facility at Canal Street, Bootle. The project provided a modern, steel-framed industrial building designed to meet current operational, safety, and compliance standards.

Works included full site set-up and security, demolition, groundworks and vibro improvement works, installation of drainage infrastructure, and construction of pad foundations. A new steel frame was erected with under-netting and edge protection, followed by the installation of roofing systems, vertical cladding, and external doors to complete the building envelope. Internally, a new ground-bearing concrete slab was poured, integrated office accommodation was constructed, and full mechanical and electrical services were installed, including sprinkler systems and warehouse racking.

The scheme was completed with a full office fit-out and the application of intumescent fire protection and decorative top-coat finishes to the structural steelwork, delivering a fully compliant and operational industrial facility. The project was successfully delivered within a 38-week programme, providing a total Gross Internal Floor Area of 2,064 m².
